Fleetwood RV-Motorhome Battery Install – 6 Volt in Series

Installed two Trojan T-105 6 Volt 225 amp hour deep cycle batteries into a Fleetwood Motorhome, owned by a local business owner.

The installation was simple. The Fleetwood RV carries the house batteries in the steps leading into the coach.

The Fleetwood battery compartment tray originally contained a single 12 volt Group 27 deep cycle-marine battery. But the tray will accommodate two 6 volt golf cart batteries in series.

How to Test Golf Cart Charger Voltage

To test the output of a golf cart charger, simply plug in the charger to the cart and use a multimeter by placing the probes on the incoming neg and post cables.

In this example, we tested the output of a 48 volt Club Car 13amp charger.  The multimeter probes were placed on the corresponding positive and negative battery terminals and the measured output was 54.7 volts.

When a golf cart customer has to replace batteries that are only 2-3 years old, we like to determine if the golf cart charger is functioning correctly.

Correct GEM Car Batteries

Another GEM Car customer who was sold incorrect 12volt batteries.

If you are shooping for batteries for your GEM Car, be sure to ask if the batteries are deep cycle group 31 and not starting batteries.

130 amp hour 12volt Trojan 30XHS or SCS 225 deep cycle batteries are the factory recommended replacement.

**Note some GEM Car owners are using the 150 ah Trojan T-1275 12 volt battery.  This battery has 20 more ah and is the same price as the 30XHS.  It is a larger and heavier battery and will not comply with the battery hold down bar under back seat.

The interstate batteries in the image are group 31 starting batteres typical for semi trucks.

Gem Car with Incorrect Deep Cycle Batteries

I visited a new owner of a 72 volt Gem Car with RV- Marine Deep Cycle batteries installed incorrectly.

Surprisingly to the buyer of Gem Car, the seller purposely purchased inexpensive and incorrect 12 volt batteries before selling.

This is very common, due to the fact that 12 volt Gem Car batteries are more expensive than other golf cart batteries.

The correct batteries for Gem Car’s are Trojan 30 SHS, SCS 225 and 100 AH Deep Cycle batteries.

RV- Marine will provide only limited run time due to their low capacity.

We offer free delivery and free instillation of Gem Car batteries.

New Trojan 6 Volt Batteries for an old Taylor Dunn Electric Golf Cart

Visited a very nice horse ranch in Valley Center for a battery delivery.

The customer ordered top of the line golf cart batteries, Trojan T-105 6 volt deep cycle.

I was surprised to see a 1970 Taylor Dunn in great working condition.

Not only is this cart still operating with original factory parts, 40 years old, the steel frame and body is in great condition.  Have to hand it to Taylor Dunn for manufacturing a strong electric cart.

2011 Blackout In San Diego, Parts Of Arizona & Baja California Blamed On ‘Inadequate Planning’

By JULIE WATSON 05/ 1/12 07:22 PM ET

SAN DIEGO — Federal energy regulators on Tuesday blamed inadequate planning and lack of grid coordination for a massive blackout last year that started with the loss of a single transmission line at an Arizona substation and quickly affected millions of people in Southern California and Mexico’s Baja California.

The Sept. 8 outage that lasted through the night shows the need for close communication between major utilities and smaller operators, and for everyone to update their emergency settings, officials said.

The blackout was caused by many of the same problems that triggered a 2003 outage that cut power to 50 million people in the Midwest and the Northeast, regulators said in a teleconference from Washington.

It was another reminder that U.S. transmission lines remain vulnerable to cascading power failures despite the safeguards that are in place.

The system is built to quickly compensate for glitches – like the loss of a single line – but a lack of understanding of what was happening between neighboring operators caused the problem in Arizona to balloon into something much bigger than it should have been, according to the joint report by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and North American Electric Reliability Corp.

When a maintenance worker caused the loss of the line operated by Arizona Public Service, it immediately overloaded adjacent systems stretching to California and northern Baja California.

The outage knocked out traffic lights, causing gridlock on roads in the San Diego area. Two reactors at a nuclear power plant along the California coast went offline after losing electricity, and nearly 3.5 million gallons of sewage spilled into the ocean, closing beaches in San Diego.

People on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border spent the night struggling to fall asleep in high temperatures that reached 115 degrees in desert areas. There were no reported deaths or injuries related to the outage.

“This report highlights the growing need for more coordination of grid operations in the West,” FERC Chairman Jon Wellinghoff said in a statement.

Trojan Batteries for Duffy Boats

Delivered two new Trojan T-105 6 volt deep cycle batteries to a Duffy boat owner on San Marcos Lake.

This was my second time selling batteries to a Duffy boat owner. My first encounter was in the upscale Coronado Cays area.

The quiet appeal of the Duffy boats is obvious, they are noiseless and do not leave any pollution behind.

My recent customer replace 6 year old Trojan T-105 batteries that came with the boat. I told her to maintain the water levels and keep the batteries fully charged as much as possible to get a long life out of her new set.
